Sorti en 1997 "The Man In The Shadow" premier album de Snooze sur SSR/Crammed, a contribué à l’essor d’une scène électronique française fouineuse, et a établi Dominique Dalcan comme un songwriter fin et étonnant.
La reconnaissance du public est au rendez-vous, même l’Angleterre ne tarit pas d'éloge sur ce premier enregistrement. L’album est commercialisé dans 25 pays. Snooze remixe du groupe américain Morphine au japonais Ruichi Sakamoto. De plus, il enchaîne l’écriture de la musique du film “Ma vie en rose “ d’Alain Berliner couronné au golden globe comme meilleur film étranger.
